Generative AI in Philanthropy

CNJG is pleased to share this program presented by the Technology Association of Grantmakers to our members.

Join this session to cut through the hype around generative AI (such as ChatGPT) and discuss the promise and pitfalls of generative AI to streamline and support philanthropy, including the following:

• Grant application and reporting: Generate a grant application or a grant report based on details provided by a grantee.
• Grant recommendation: Analyze past grant data and use that information to recommend grants for philanthropic organizations based on their history and goals.
• Program design: Understand and analyze the current needs and trends in a particular field, and help organizations design programs that are more effective and efficient.
• Due diligence: Assist in the due diligence process by providing relevant information about potential grantees, their programs, and their outcomes.
• Impact assessment: Assess the impact of past grants by analyzing data and helping organizations identify areas for improvement.
• Stakeholder engagement: Engage with stakeholders and gather feedback, helping organizations understand the perspectives and opinions of those they serve. This information can then be used to make informed decisions about future grants and programs.

Beyond the surface, how might generative AI reshape the way philanthropy delivers on its mission? How should we plan for the future and where do we have ethical concerns? What is philanthropy's role in helping shape AI standards in the nonprofit sector and advocate for regulations in our society?

Join this session for an update on generative AI in the social sector as well as thoughtful exploration of the charitable sector’s readiness to adopt AI. Ample time for audience participation and engagement will be provided.

Sarah Di Troia, Senior Strategic Advisor with Project Evident, is a leading expert on philanthropy’s readiness for AI and will discuss this topic in more detail during the panel conversation.
